Bihar gets 2 mega bridges: Digha-Sonepur and Ara-Chhapra bridge over Ganga

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on 11th June 2017 dedicated Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge and Ara-Chhapra road bridge over the Ganga to the people of the state. June 11, incidentally, is the birthday of his father and RJD president Lalu Prasad. Digha-Sonepur and Ara-Chhapra bridges and bridges were named after Jay Prakash Narayan and freedom fighter Bir Kuar Singh. The two road bridges were thrown open for public by the CM at function in the presence of RJD boss Lalu Prasad, deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Bihar Congress chief and education minister Ashok Choudhary and many other ministers of the grand alliance government.
Digha-Sonepur bridge has been constructed jointly by the Indian Railway and Bihar government at cost of around Rs 1,570 crore. The Ara-Chhapra road bridge has been constructed by the BRPNNL at a cost of Rs 850 crore in seven years. The construction work began in 2010.
