Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar turned down Janata Dal (United) National Vice-President Prashant Kishor’s resignation offer on Saturday. Prashant Kishor earlier in the day met Nitish Kumar.
Asked why Nitish Kumar changed his stand on the citizenship law, Prashant Kishor said the Chief Minister told him he was supporting it as it was about the grant of new citizenship. But he said he was opposed to the idea as he felt the new act, in combination with the National Citizens’ list, could be “dangerous”. Nitish Kumar — who had always spoken out against the citizenship bill in public and party forums – had changed his stand on the eve of the bill’s presentation in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
