Lalu-Nitish alliance in Bihar for upcoming polls

lalu nitish bihar allianceTwo former chief ministers of Bihar – JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar and RJD president Lalu Prasad – will be campaigning together for the upcoming by-elections for 10 assembly seats after a long gap of 24 years. Bihar JD(U) president Bashishtha Narayan Singh has said that the two will campaign together for the by-poll. It’s official now, to take on the surging BJP, JD(U), RJD and Congress have formed a “grand alliance” in the by-polls for ten assembly seats in Bihar next month. The three parties have also come to a consensus over seat sharing for the same. “A grand alliance among the JD(U), RJD and Congress has been clinched with the JD(U) and RJD getting four seats each, while the Congress will contest in the remaining two seats”, state unit JD(U) president Bashisth Narayan Singh told reporters.
The arrangement reeks of despair, says the BJP, whose Mangal Pandey declared “The situation is very clear. Two people who have lost have come together.” In the 70s, Mr Kumar and Lalu were prominent young leaders of the Janata Party. After launching their own parties, they competed fiercely in Bihar. In 2005, Mr Kumar, in partnership with the BJP, evicted Lalu’s party from power.
